Martina O’Sullivan, Executive Publisher at August Books has bought UK & Commonwealth rights to Foolish: How Google Docs Knew I Was Getting Divorced Before I Did and Other Stories by Sarah Cooper from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of Susan Raihofer at David Black Agency. The book is published by Dutton in the US and August Books will publish in paperback in October at £10.99 with a new chapter written exclusively for the UK edition.
Foolish is a collection of autobiographical musings looking back on a lifetime of trials, tribulations and public humiliations. Whether it’s in auditions, on dates, at work in the Google offices, or on the set of her very own Netflix special, Sarah Cooper knows what it’s like to feel a little bit… foolish. The result is a book that is relatable, self-deprecating and darkly funny.
Sarah Cooper is a comedian and author of 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings and How to Be Successful without Hurting Men’s Feelings, as well as the star of the Netflix comedy special, Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine. She has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show, Ellen, and been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair and countless others. She is famous for her viral Trump videos during the pandemic with millions of followers across social media. She recently appeared on the Netflix comedy Unfrosted with an ensemble cast including Jerry Seinfield, Melissa McCarthy and Hugh Grant.
Cooper said “This book is unendingly pretentious and downright embarrassing. And I’m so proud of it. Martina and August Books were the perfect partners to grant a second life to this cringe-worthy journey of self-discovery.”
O’Sullivan said ‘I’ve been a big fan of Sarah’s work since 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings - a vital resource for any corporate acquisitions meeting. I am thrilled to bring her funny and joyously messy book to UK audiences for the first time.’
